Leadership in Action: Hooks FFA Participates in Dangerfield District Elections

The Hooks FFA officer team, as well as a few of their members, attended the Dangerfield District FFA convention in Gilmer on Monday, February 2, 2026. Kailey Ashbrook, Jack Hale, Kynlee Holliday, James Moore, Madi Sleek, Carter Thomas, and Ehmi Vasquez were all voting delegates from the Hooks FFA chapter. These delegates voted for the upcoming 2026–2027 district officers, Area 6 FFA officer candidates, and the winners of the Dangerfield District Talent Team contest.

Colten Grayson served as Reporter for the Dangerfield District FFA 2025–2026 officer team. This year he retired from the Reporter position and ran as a candidate for the Dangerfield District representative on the Area 6 officer team.

“I just wanted to make an impact on the people around me and get the chance to serve others,” Grayson said.

In addition to voting, the Dangerfield District held a talent team contest. The Hooks talent team, Elijah Arnold, Carr Kruger, and Kolby Tabor, competed against seven other teams and placed second.

“It was a good show and we had a good performance. It didn’t go completely as planned; we got second, but we will do better next year,” Arnold said.

Kailey is currently a sophomore at Hooks who is greatly involved in FFA and AG programs. She is our FFA Chapter student reporter who is ready to write about our AG-related accomplishments this year. She also participates in horse judging, meat lab, and AG mech. Outside of school she loves barrel racing, hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers, and hanging out with family at her lake-house.
