“Brave” is a lovely movie, especially if you like Disney with a hint of drama. The main character, Merida, is against the marriage her parents have arranged for her. She freaks out and goes to a witch’s cottage to change her mother in order to change her fate, not knowing the outcome of her decision.
Merida accidentally turns her mother, Elinor, into a bear and must hide her from her father and the suitors so they don’t kill her. Merida and her mother return to the cottage to learn more about the spell, finding that the torn tapestry contains everything needed to fix it.
Merida rescues her mother after her father tries to kill her, and she puts the tapestry over her as the sun comes up, reversing the spell and restoring her mother to human form. The movie ends with the marriage called off and the suitors leaving — a happy ending.
