I would describe Megamind as an underrated masterpiece. When it was first released it was met with mixed reviews. Most critics said it regurgitated points from previous movies.

I disagree with this.

You will be hard-pressed to find a movie that talks about nurture vs. nature and commentary on “nice guy culture,” before the release of Megamind. The best part of the movie is how it parodies other superhero movies. For instance,  when Hal Stewart, the cameraman for Roxanne, gets superpowers he becomes enraged because Roxanne does not like him. It was excellent commentary (for its time) on how the hero always gets the girl in the end when in reality it doesn’t work that way.

The portrayal of Metro Man as an egotistical and attention-seeking superhero is very interesting to me. Overall, I would rate the movie a 9/10.
