The 2022-2023 Hooks High School Cheer tryouts were held on Saturday, March 12th in the HHS school gym. The new varsity cheer squads captains are, upcoming senior, Brooke Phillips and assistant captain, upcoming junior, Ely Bates.

The following are the new varsity cheerleaders: Brooke Phillips, Mackenize Roy, Delaney LaRose, Marleigh Smith, Jaidyn Henderson, Alee Winniford, Ely Bates, Cydni Wright, Anislee Hill, Abby Baggett, Hadlee Grant, and Na’shayla Nabors, and Henrietta Hornet is once again Abby Sutton.

“I’m super excited for this season. I think it’s going to be fun, good for us and the boys,” Smith said. “Football season has always been my favorite and I love being able to cheer on the Hornets every Friday night.”

The junior varsity’s squad is: Sarah Vasquez, Rylee Love, Baylen Shaw, Kenadee Hedges, Allyson Hignight, and Mackenize Collins. Here is what some of the girls had to say.

“I’m so excited for this season and the memories that will come along the way. I’ve always loved football season and I’m excited to be in the middle of it,” Winniford said.
