Hooks FFA Shotgun Team Hits High Marks at Sims Trap Shoot

The Hooks FFA Shotgun Team participated in the Sims FFA Trap Shoot competition on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. There were 42 teams at the event, which took place at Buffalo Creek Gun Club in Ben Wheeler.

The Shotgun Team consists of Senior Cameron Baker, Junior James Moore III, Sophomore Carter Thomas, Freshmen Jackson Lenaway, Stetson May, and William Moore, 8th graders Konley Golden and Preston King, and 7th grader Ford Pope.

Team 1 ranked 6th with a score of 274. Team 1:

James Moore III – 95
William Moore – 95
Cameron Baker – 79
Carter Thomas – 84

Carter and William shot new season-high scores, and William shot a 50-straight in the last two rounds.

Team 2 finished with a score of 250. Team 2:

Jackson Lenaway – 85
Stetson May – 80
Konley Golden – 85
Preston King – 72

All Team 2 shooters achieved new season-high scores. Jackson, Stetson, and Konley all shot new personal high scores.

Ford Pope shot his first competition as an individual and set his personal competition high at 65.

James Moore III and William Moore ranked in a three-way tie for 7th place with a score of 95.

Kailey is currently a sophomore at Hooks who is greatly involved in FFA and AG programs. She is our FFA Chapter student reporter who is ready to write about our AG-related accomplishments this year. She also participates in horse judging, meat lab, and AG mech. Outside of school she loves barrel racing, hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers, and hanging out with family at her lake-house.
