Hard work and preparation paid off for the FFA chapter at this week’s Area 6 Career Development Events (CDEs), as multiple judging teams represented their program with pride and competitive spirit. Among the standout performances, the Forage Evaluation Team delivered an impressive showing, earning a 2nd place finish out of 23 teams and securing their spot at the state contest.
With 81 individuals competing, team members showcased their individual skills as well. Jackson Balette led the charge with a 2nd place individual finish, followed by Colton Grayson in 4th, James Moore in 7th, and Carter Thomas in 24th. Their collective success not only reflects a deep understanding of forage species and pasture management but also a commitment to agricultural excellence and teamwork.
The Horse Judging Team also made a strong appearance, finishing 15th overall. Representing the chapter were Carr Krueger, Reagan Wasson, Kailey Ashbrook, and Dakota Buckley. Judging horses requires an eye for structure, movement, and breed characteristics, and this team showed growth and determination as they took on a challenging field of competitors.
The Livestock Judging Team rounded out the day with a 13th place finish. Team members Mason Carlow, Jackson Hale, Kimberly Vasquez, and Lexi Reyenga evaluated market and breeding livestock with sharp attention to detail and solid reasoning. From ranking market steers to selecting breeding gilts, the team demonstrated their expanding knowledge of livestock selection principles and industry standards.
As the Forage Team now sets its sights on the upcoming state contest, the entire chapter celebrates the hard-earned success of all teams. Their results speak not only to their skills in the ring and field but also to the values of dedication, leadership, and learning that define FFA.
