The Hooks Hornets headed towards McLoud for a tournament from December 5th through 7th.
The Hornets started off with a loss against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but then shook off the rust to win against the McLoud varsity by a massive score.
“The first game was tough; we didn’t start off strong and couldn’t catch up,” Varsity Shooting Guard Darin Hamilton said.
Throughout the rest of the tournament, the Hornets were getting wins left and right, up until Overton, where the Hornets went into overtime and won the game with Kavon Stiger hitting the game-tying shot to go into overtime.
“My balance was a little off, but I still made the shot to take us to overtime and win,” Varsity Shooting Guard Kavon Stiger said.
The final championship game was set to be the Hornets versus the Jefferson Bulldogs. The Hornets kept up in the first half but ultimately couldn’t catch up and lost, placing 2nd in the tournament.
