Hooks’ annual “Trunk or Treat” was held on Thursday at the high school gym parking lot, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Local clubs and organizations distributed candy from car trunks to celebrate Halloween. Children of all ages dressed up in Halloween costumes to collect candy from themed trunks. In addition to giving away candy, volunteers served hot dogs, rented bouncy houses, and offered face painting.
“Thanks to the Vocational Department for the excellent job of cooking and handling the hot dog line, the cheerleaders for face painting, and the wonderful trunks that supplied candy for the children,” organizer Judy Cochran said. “This was only successful because of the help from all of you.”
Because of the community’s effort to host a safer alternative to “Trick or Treating” in precarious neighborhoods, “Trunk or Treating” has become the new normal.
