Hooks FFA chapter Greenhand officers made a significant mark at the Area VI Greenhand Camp held on Friday, December 13. The event, which took place at Timberline Baptist Camp in Lindale, brought together FFA members from various schools to engage in a day filled with learning, leadership, and etiquette.
Greenhand Camp is designed specifically for first-year FFA members, known as Greenhands, to introduce them to the broader FFA community and equip them with essential skills. Hooks FFA Greenhands participated in a series of workshops and activities aimed at enhancing their understanding of agricultural practices, leadership development, and the importance of teamwork. The camp provided a platform for these young members to interact with peers from other chapters, exchange ideas, and build lasting connections.
“My time at Greenhand camp was AMAZING! I made a lot of new friends and created wonderful memories. It was so much fun that I want to go back,” Greenhand President Ehemi Vasquez said. “I learned a lot of new things, like self-confidence, how to shake hands properly, and how to be a leader for myself and everyone else around me!”
Throughout the day, the Hooks FFA Greenhands showcased their enthusiasm and dedication, actively participating in all the sessions. They learned about the history and structure of FFA, explored various agricultural careers, and developed their public speaking and leadership skills. The experience not only enriched their knowledge but also inspired them to take on more active roles within their chapter. The event concluded with speeches from a prominent FFA alumnus and a dance filled with new memories and friends, leaving the new Greenhands eager to apply their newfound skills and knowledge in their future FFA endeavors.
