Hooks ISD is participating in “Battle of the Blue,” a canned food drive against Redwater ISD to benefit local veterans, and will be accepting donations from Oct. 21st to Nov. 1st, concluding at the Hooks vs. Redwater game. Donations can be brought to any Hooks ISD campus or the administration building.
“If we could collect between 1,700 – 2,000 cans, we would make a huge impact,” Human Resource Manager Lisa Tullis said. “They would have supplies for several months!”
All donations from Hooks will go to the Hero’s Pantry, which feeds 120 veterans each week, while the Redwater donations will go to the First Baptist Food Pantry in Redwater. The HHS Ag department will bring a trailer to collect donations from each campus on Friday morning, and then deliver that trailer to the game to be parked beside the Redwater trailer.
Each year, Hooks ISD participates various activities to recognize and support local veterans, including a Veteran’s Day parade and ceremony. The canned food drive and Veteran’s Day program are just two ways in which Hooks can thank our veterans for their amazing bravery and sacrifice for our country!
