Luke McGuire has been a Hooks Hornet for a little over a year. He graduated from Pleasant Grove in 2012, then went to Henderson State to get his masters’ degree. Now he is our very own U.S. history teacher and first time UIL coach.
“We went on the trip to Tyler and I learned some things there,” McGuire said. “We’ve got a couple of students that are doing Social Studies UIL, so I’m excited about that.”
McGuire came to Hooks last year and has loved every minute of it. He chose to come to Hooks because he had heard great things about it, and he wanted to be at a smaller school. He had never taught high school before and wanted to try something new, to gain new experiences since the job was open for him to take.
“Getting to know the students, relationships, that really has been one of my favorite parts,” McGuire said.
McGuire had always loved school, but history wasn’t his only favorite subject. He also loved geography, politics, economics, government, and world history, but chose to do U.S. history because he wanted to teach the material of it the most. When he was little, he had some great teachers and even relatives that were teachers that inspired him to become one himself. He loves being a teacher and is excited for the many years to come.
Mcguire’s favorite quote is, “It’ll all work out,” because that is what his dad has always told him.
