Hooks FFA participates in Four States Fair livestock show

Hooks FFA participated in the Four States Fair livestock show, their first major show of the fall season, on Sept. 13-16.

“The Four States fair cattle shows were great as always. I’m very proud of the Hooks FFA exhibitors and their successes in the show ring,” Agriculture Science Teacher Angie Duke said.

On Friday, September 13th, students showcased their talents in showmanship, with several making it to the finals and earning impressive placements in their classes. The excitement continued on September 14th with the Four States Junior Show, where many students excelled:

Rilee Wasson: 2nd & 5th

Reagan Wasson: 4th

Carr Krueger: 7th

Karli Hooks: 7th

Bailey Smith: 1st & 2nd

Jack Hale: 1st & Grand Champion Angus

Kason Dollar: 3rd

Tatum Hickey: 6th

Jaeley Barton: 1st

Addi Baker: 6th

Jaci Fisher: 3rd

Ehemi Vasquez: 2nd

Kimberly Vasquez: 1st & Reserve Champion

Mason Carlow: 1st, 2nd, 5th, & Grand Champion ARB

Next, on Sept. 15th, the Four States Open Show took place, welcoming participants of all ages and associations.

Mason is currently a Senior at Hooks High School. This is his fourth year working on the buzz, and in journalism. Mason participates in FFA, showing cows, and speaking events, he also participates in STUCO, Hornet TV, and NHS. Mason loves his family, friends Kubota tractors, Santa Gertrudis, Brangus cattle, and of course eating Tex-Mex, and BBQ!

Lexi Reyenga, Reporter

Lexi is currently a senior at Hooks High School. She is heavily involved in the Ag and FFA program. She participates in livestock showing, horse judging, livestock judging, and radio broadcasting. She is also our FFA chapter Student Advisor! She loves reading books, cuddling her cows, and watching movies!

Kimberly Vasquez, Reporter

Kimberly is currently a senior at Hooks High school. This is her fourth year being involved in FFA. She is part of the livestock judging team, spanish creed ,and also has been showing cattle for four years! Outside of school she enjoys helping kids in the FFA ,but she never misses her daily Starbucks runs !
