Construction on the HHS auditorium started earlier this summer, during the week of July 7th-13th. Since school has officially started, the maintenance team is working hard to finish construction, in order for the theater classes to begin practicing on the stage.
“There have been upgrades in lighting and the dressing rooms, as well as some technological upgrades that will help with overall use,” Theater Teacher Ms. Woods said. “This will dramatically help students involved in One Act Play prepare for performance and competition.”
The cast of Hooks’s 2023-2024 One Act Play has been awarded for their hard work and talent through the One Act UIL All-Star cast. As well as the great theater performances that take place in the auditorium, many other school sanctioned events happen inside, so it is vital to have the auditorium organized and up to date.
“We will truly have one of the best spaces for all of these types of events in the area–not only for, but definitely including, campuses of similar size,” Woods said. “It’s a space the entire community of Hooks can be proud of.”
The project is expected to be complete in September and will host multiple events from musical performances to pageants. With a new and improved Auditorium, the theater program is destined for even greater horizons.
