To practice for the upcoming season, the varsity and junior varsity football teams scrimmaged against Paul Pewitt on Aug. 16th at 6:00 p.m., at the Hive.
The scrimmage had a unique format of 10-15 plays of varsity offense, before switching to JV offense for another 10-15 plays.
“I like the way scrimmages are played because it gives the kids a moment to rest, and you get to see everybody on offense,” Cedrick Dorsey, Wide-Receiver Coach, said.
Although the scrimmage did not have any effect on the overall season, the mighty Hornet athletes still gave it their best.
One standout player during the scrimmage was senior linemen Carlos Patino. He was mentioned by fellow senior linemen Aiden Ashmore, as a valuable asset for the team.
“If there was a player I’d like to point out, it’d be Patino,” Ashmore said. “He really played his butt off and Pewitt actually needed three people to block him.”
With the scrimmage a success, players are now looking forward to a winning season for the Hornets.
