Mrs. Angela Duke has always been a Hooks Hornet, from the time she started kindergarten at Hooks elementary until her graduation in 1987. After that, she went off to college, came back, and never left. Now, she is the newest addition to the Hooks High School Ag department.
Duke received degrees from Texarkana College, Stephen F. Austin State University, and Texas A&M. Duke chose to teach agriculture because she was raised by an agriculturalist, so for her it seemed like a natural pick. She is excited to teach her students skills that will benefit them.
“We do a lot of things as far as competitions go, because the students can apply what they’ve learned in class to real life situations,” Duke said.
Duke is convinced that her class will be fun and easy to pass. She is looking forward to opening her students’ eyes to agriculture, especially for those who have never been in an agriculture class. Duke would like to fill a team for the CDE, LDE, and SDE competitions, and hopes that they are as competitive as she was in high school.
