The Lady Hornet Varsity Volleyball Team became Bi-District Champions by beating Chapel Hill in the first round of playoffs on October 30-31. The team had 6 seniors, 3 juniors, and 4 underclassmen who worked extremely hard to accomplish this goal.
To set the tone, they played hype music and sang together in the locker room while preparing for their game.
“Roses are red, violets are blue, we made it to the second round, how bout’ you?” exclaimed Lady Hornet Senior Morgan Creer.
The win was a fantastic accomplishment by our Lady Hornets and sent them straight to the second round of playoffs against Tatum on November 2. The game was played at Ore City and was a fierce fight for the Hooks Hornets. Sadly, they lost the game, concluding their fight in the playoffs. Seniors on the team were: Marleigh Smith, Kinsley Birdwell, Maddie Campbell, Morgan Creer, Ali Winniford, and Addy Hale.
“It makes me sad when I realize that the last six years went by really fast,” Winniford said. “It was my last time playing volleyball with all my best friends.”
The memories made throughout the year were a big win for our Lady Hornets, even though they couldn’t beat the Tatum Eagles. Now, our Lady Hornets have shot straight into basketball season and will begin the fight to the basketball playoffs. Congratulations to the Lady Hornets on achieving the volleyball Bi-District Championship this year. #HFND
