Lainei Batts is a 15-year-old sophomore here at HHS. This year will be her second year at Hooks, and claims to like it here because of the educational and extracurricular opportunities. She plays the trumpet in the Hornet band, where she hopes to advance to state this year. Lainei plans to attend college after high school, so she can get the education required for her career path. Her goals in life keep her motivated through challenging times. Lainei says she also looks up to her friends for inspiration and encouragement.

In her free time, she likes to take peaceful walks outdoors. Lainei has a cat, a dog, and four siblings, that she loves dearly. She dreams of visiting Japan and seeing the natural beauty of the cherry blossom trees there. If Lainei could meet anyone, dead or alive, she would choose Abraham Lincoln.

A quote she lives by is “eyes with pride.” This shows her intention of staying motivated and determined. Lainei’s favorite things are the movie Disturbia, the video game and TV series “The Last of Us,” and the song, “Past Lives.” She also loves the book “Book Thief,” and eating gummy bears.
