HHS Band will kick off the 2023 football season with their production, Fire and Ice, on Friday during the halftime show. The band has worked long hours in the intense summer heat at mandated practices to bring this production to life.
This year, the band hopes to make it to state in the UIL competition. Since Slayton Batts, senior at HHS, has been appointed drum major for the 2023-2024 school year, the band has exceeded the director’s expectations.
“It feels good,” Batts said. “I’m very nervous though, when I have to conduct, but I feel like it is a great opportunity for me this year.”
Everyone in the band has high hopes for this year, and thanks to great teaching and guidance this could be the best year yet.
