Sixteen-year-old Shakhya Shackleford represents Hornet school spirit and hard work, as she is involved in both the Hornet drumline and athletics. Some of Shakhya’s favorite things include the color green and eating at Mighty Crab. She has a large family, with five siblings, her mom, and nephew, who are a main reason she is motivated to succeed.

Shakhya dreams of attending Howard University in Washington, DC and studying to become a psychiatrist. She spends her free time swimming, listening to music, and cooking delicious food.
